Our company, Ukai cutlery co., Ltd., started in march 1947 at Seki city which is located in the Gifu prefecture as one of the scissor smitheries.
Seki city is well known as a town which has a history and specialises in the manufacturing on fine cutlery. Due to our history and experience, we were able to establish the present company on the 11th of may 1974 as a professional 'house hold' scissors manufacturer. We aim to promote the joy and happiness of having hair cut at home to more people, we therefore decided to establish our company web site to help educate and inform as many people as possible. Seki city is well known as"Seki no Magoroku"which is the famous Japanese sword. Seki city is blessed with some great natural resources including the Nagara river with its pure flowing water. These conditions supply us with the resources to create the high quality cutlery.There are two main reasons why we are able to produce high quality products. Firstly we have a long history and have gathered many experiences from our ancient times and secondly we research and understand modern advanced technology. By combining the lessons and skills of the past with modern and precision of technology we can produce a truly unique sets of products of incomparable quality. Although a lot of knives are imported from foreign countries these days, we strongly believe in our skills and qualities and we would like to introduce our products which are "made in Japan" and "made in Seki".Having a policy "To maintain the production of high quality Japanese cutlery which can be used for ever", We would like to create and produce products which are loved by our customers.
